In the heart of the Amalfi Coast, in Maiori, where the mountains meet the sea and light traces the contours of the coastline, a bold and visionary project takes shape.

It is 1980 when, on the rocky cliff overlooking the endless blue, construction begins on a retreat suspended between sea and sky, set into the stone as if it had always belonged to that landscape. The architecture blends with the rock, follows it and completes it, becoming part of its very natural balance: nothing is forced, everything finds its own natural harmony.

It is a place designed to experience the grandeur of the landscape from above, where the view opens uninterrupted along the entire Amalfi Coast, from Maiori to Ravello, all the way to Amalfi and Conca dei Marini. Here the sea is not a backdrop, but a living, constant presence.

Gino and Emilia

In 1983, this place meets the destiny of the Citarella family. It is in that year that Gino Citarella discovers the hotel and falls in love with it, with the clarity of someone who immediately recognises the value of what is rare. An entrepreneur far from the world of hospitality, Gino does not inherit this story, he chooses it. Driven by a deep intuition and an immediate bond with Maiori and the Amalfi Coast, he decides to buy the hotel and to write a new chapter of his life.

By his side there is always Emilia, his wife. A teacher by training, a woman of great sensitivity and natural elegance, Emilia brings to the hotel an idea of hospitality made of authentic warmth and daily attention. It is she who gives voice to the details: the flowers that decorate the spaces, the care for the table, the passion for cooking that becomes an expression of sincere hospitality. In her way of doing things, every element has a meaning, every gesture becomes attention, every space an invitation to feel welcome. Together, Gino and Emilia bring to life a shared vision, in which every guest is welcomed as part of a living home overlooking the sea.

A story that continues

It is in this setting that their children grow up: Anna, Giovanni, Christian and Nadia. Between the terraces suspended over the endless sea and the grandeur of the Coast before their eyes, the hotel becomes their daily landscape. Here they learn the meaning of hospitality by watching, living and breathing every day the work and the passion of their parents.

As the years go by, that same legacy turns into passion for Anna and Nadia. Today it is they who carry forward the family story, guiding the hotel with a contemporary outlook deeply rooted in its origins. In them, Gino's vision and Emilia's sensitivity coexist, the ability to imagine and the ability to take care, the past and the future continuing to meet every day in the same place.
